The empty string works & is cleaner than the hack I had come up with, so
thanks for that!

I'm still thinking that redirector should have an explicit flag that could
be used to signal that the forked process does not require a stdin pump;
after all, why create the thread to pump in a empty string when you know
that it's not going to be needed? Just my two cents anyway...
